Lexus LC F Prototype Spy Shots: Coupe Spied Testing in Germany!
After a year of rumors and speculation, we can finally confirm that the Lexus LC F is in fact real. But what’s under the hood?
Rumors of a spiced-up Lexus LC coupe have been floating around for over a year now. But that’s all they were – rumors. Now, we’ve got some pretty concrete visual evidence that the Lexus LC F is in fact happening. This lightly camouflaged mule was recently caught testing on public roads in Germany, and there’s no denying that it isn’t your average LC. Not by a long shot.
The most obvious differences between this Lexus LC F mule and a run-of-the-mill coupe lie in the front and back. The new front bumper features massive air intakes for starters. Out back, you’ll undoubtedly notice the typical, angled exhaust pipes that adorn all Lexus F cars, along with a restyled bumper. Overall, it looks a lot like the rendering we created almost exactly one year ago, sans spoiler.
Now that we know the Lexus LC F is real, only one question remains – what will power it? It’s easy to assume that Lexus will simply stick with its tried-and-true naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8. But that old school powertrain appears to be on its last legs. Instead, the new LC F is rumored to receive a new 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 producing somewhere around 600 hp and 500+ lb-ft of torque.
As much as we love Lexus’ long-lasting 5.0, that sounds like a pretty nice upgrade. And if it proves true, it’s also clear that Lexus is targeting some stiffer competition with it’s hotter halo coupe. Could we finally be treated to the hyper-performance Lexus we’ve been waiting since the LFA to see? And at the rumored price tag of around $180,000, one that’s considerably cheaper than that much-beloved supercar? Stay tuned!
