Lexus LFA Successor Once Again Rumored to Arrive in 2025 With Twin-Turbo V8
The long-rumored Lexus LFA successor will utilize lightweight materials with an output approaching 900 horsepower.
While the Lexus LFA has been gone for a long time now, enthusiasts have finally turned the proverbial corner and are now showing the supercar some love, with prices reflecting that infusion of interest in a big way. It has since become a sought-after and pricey collectible, though rumors of a proper Lexus LFA successor have also swirled for years to this point. While most expected this model to be offered as a purely electric performer, recent rumors have indicated that it will actually launch with a twin-turbo V8 and perhaps a hybrid system, and it has even been spied testing emitting some pretty amazing sounds on the track. Now, Best Car Web is providing a few more details on what we can expect from the Lexus LFA successor.
As previously rumored, this new machine – often referred to as the “LFR” – is expected to debut in 2025 packing a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 generating around 710 horsepower, though the hybrid system could boost output to a whopping 887 horsepower. The luxury brand reportedly views this machine not only as a tribute to ICE, but also as a “souvenir” of sorts from Akio Toyoda‘s tenure as president of Toyota.
Development of this new supercar is reportedly right on track, with production expected to begin as soon as the summer of 2025. As previously reported, the LFR is being developed alongside the GT3 racing variant that was previewed by the Toyota GR GT3 concept that debuted at the 2022 Tokyo Motor Show, which is said to influence its styling in a big way – giving us a nice preview of what to expect. In addition to a “complex” design, the LFR will utilize exotic materials such as a carbon fiber body and an aluminum chassis to keep weight down.
Interestingly, while the LFA was a high-dollar, ultra limited-production model, that apparently won’t be the case with its successor, which is said to be a “catalog” vehicle with no set production limit. Obviously, depending on price, it’s not like Lexus will be selling these things in RX numbers, but this is great news for those that don’t have unlimited funds or dealer connections and simply want to buy one. Best Car Web notes that pricing will start out at $216,119, which should ensure that those numbers remain rather low, regardless.
