What Do You Think This Lexus IS Looks Like?
Everyone jumps to the Star Wars reference, but we think this car looks like something more.
The car world is full of cliché naming conventions. One of the most egregious is the use of “Darth Vader” to describe basically any car that is mostly black. Even Jeremy Clarkson has used the Sith Lord’s name in an episode or two of Top Gear. So, when cruising through Reddit, we came across this “Darth Vader” Lexus IS and decided that we’ve had enough Star Wars references.
Let’s get more creative and reach into the grand depths that make up sci-fi references. First off, we have those lights. Red headlights are a unique change, and Darth Vader certainly didn’t have red eyes. Then there is that grille. It has the Vader jaw shape, but that chrome sticks out. We think that this Lexus is far more mechanical humanoid than force-wielding swordsman.
This Lexus is actually a Cylon.
It all matches up. Same gaping maw, but more metallic, and you get those red eyes too. We aren’t entirely sure what to say about the IS’s running lights aside from maybe Nike decided to sponsor a Cylon soccer team?
We will admit that the Cylon-naming scheme would work a bit better if this Lexus was dark silver instead of black. Seriously though, can we just stop calling everything Darth Vader?
But what do you guys think? Sound off in the forum and pick your name for this car. Do you think we are overreacting with our Vader hate, or are you tired of it too? Feel free to drop some thoughts on the actual car as well. We’ve grown fond of the bolted-fender widebody look, but those red headlights just look like a safety hazard to us. Hit that forum and make your voice heard.
