Lexus NX Commercial Gets Called Out for Being a Commercial
I’m assuming the guys at CarScoops just wrote this article because they needed some SEO stories with the key word “Lexus NX”. Why else would someone go to the trouble of trashing the perfectly good Lexus commercial below?
Okay, sure, I hear you asking why someone would go to the trouble of trashing an Internet article that trashes a Lexus commercial? Valid point, but hey, a man’s got to eat.
Still, I’m going to get argumentative here for a minute with CarScoops‘ article, “Lexus NX ‘Go Beyond’ Spot Is Argumentative At Best.”
First of all, we’ve been seeing this otherwise forgettable spot for a while now. Which also supports my second point: Who cares?! It’s just a totally bland, non-offensive Lexus commercial.
As you can see, the spot is basically just 30 seconds of beautiful 24 to 36-year-olds enjoying being beautiful in a beautiful car, while the smooth-jazz voice-over guy tells you to go beyond striking design, performance, innovation, and utility, and go get yourself an NX.
Pretty standard fare for an ad. Just some pretty images and sultry words that combine to subliminally shine a light on all the fun you’re not having. But CarScoops picks it apart, challenging the car’s ability to really go beyond performance, and whether or not Lexus has truly gone beyond innovation with the NX.
Really? What car company doesn’t call itself innovative, or claim that their cars perform well? It’s what you do to sell cars. You boast about them. It’s called a commercial.
Let’s just leave selling the NX up to the experts, shall we? They’ve done a darn-good job of it so far.
