NX Reveals Temperature Sensitive ‘Star Wars’ Paint After Heating Up
I think we can all agree that Boba Fett is the coolest character in the Star Wars universe. But odds are good that we won’t all agree that painting Boba Fett on the side of a Lexus NX is a good idea.
But perhaps I’m withholding some valuable information. What if I told you that the appearance of the baddest bounty hunter around comes and goes on the NX as the temperature fluctuates? Yep, that’s what I thought. Another unanimously cool vote.
That degree of coolness is precisely what we get with this NX recently painted by René Turrek. Although the coolness doesn’t become apparent under cool temperatures. The temperature sensitive paint job actually comes alive when the car heats up past 30 degrees Celsius. Once the engine and the brakes heat up, Boba Fett becomes visible, in all his menacing, Dark Side glory. Or you can just throw a bucket of hot water on him.
According to a questionable Google translation of AutoBild, it only took “chameleon artist” Turrek 24 hours to complete the paint job. They go on to say that “at temperatures below 30 degrees, the car comes quite unspektulär in black and white with graphic elements. But even the heating by the motor makes Sternenkämpfer visible.”
For the record, Sternenkämpfer may or may not translate to “starfighter.” Or it may be a German Shepherd, depending on which translation site your using. But while there may be a descrepancy about that, there certainly isn’t any question about how cool this NX is, right?
