Lexus Outsells Mercedes-Benz Last Year, Narrowly Beaten By BMW
It’s a new year already, and while 2015 went by quicker than we thought it should, we do know one thing; people bought a large amount of cars and trucks last year. In the highly-competitive luxury segment, Lexus managed to beat out Mercedes-Benz for total vehicles sold!
Mercedes-Benz sold 343,088 units for the 2015 sales year. That’s a lot of cars, that’s for sure. But it wasn’t enough to outsell Lexus, who sold no less than 344,601 cars and SUVs last year. Over 40,000 of those vehicles came in December alone. For some, it surely was a December to remember.
While Lexus is growing in leaps and bounds with quality products, they still couldn’t muster up enough sales to bring down BMW. The Bavarian automaker pushed out 346,023 vehicles last year to take the lead.
2015 will be remembered as a great year for the automotive industry, and we have no reason to think that 2016 won’t be just as good. Unless, of course, the economy tanks or oil prices skyrocket.
What do you think? Did you pick up a new car last year? Let us know over in the forums!
