Lexus Posts Best-Ever First Quarter Sales
Lexus and Toyota credit much of their success to a diverse – and electrified – lineup of vehicles that suit many lifestyles.
Lately, it seems that many manufacturers have become hyper-focused on selling just one or two types of vehicles. Some have put all of their eggs in the “trucks” or “all-electric” baskets with mixed-to-disastrous results. Lexus – and parent company Toyota – have remained successful by eschewing trends like these.
While the concept of a full-line brand was more or less the standard for decades, few brands have continued down this path into the 2020s. However, it’s clear that this is the way forward. Don’t believe us? Lexus just posted their best-ever first quarter in sales.
It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic destroyed the supply chain for years. While things have begun to normalize, other economic issues, such as inflation and high interest rates have dug into sales numbers across the industry. Regardless, Lexus has no problem moving metal.
Something for Everybody
Lexus, with their diversified lineup, hasn’t just weathered the storm – they’ve thrived. In March, Lexus sold 30,771 total vehicles. That’s up 16.7 percent over March 2023. For the first quarter, Lexus dealers moved an impressive 78,471 vehicles a 15% increase. More impressively, the daily sales rate – the average number of cars sold per day – moved up by 12 percent.
Unlike some manufacturers, Lexus boasts something for just about any luxury buyer. You’ve got the ever-popular crossover SUVs, such as the NX and RX. For the traditional crowd, there’s the legendary GX. Traditional sedan buyers have the IS, ES, and LS, while those seeking performance have a full complement of options from coupes to convertibles and even a performance SUV option.
Many of these models are also offered as hybrids or full electric vehicles. Toyota gives a lot of credit to these “green” models for bolstering sales, but we at Club Lexus tend to take a larger look at the brand as a whole. Parent company Toyota is a perennial winner of the JD Power Owner Loyalty rankings. Lexus nearly topped the loyalty ranking for luxury SUV buyers in 2022, coming in a close second to Mercedes-Benz.
With a more diverse lineup of vehicles, it’s easy for a customer to stay within a brand as the owner’s lifestyle changes. We’re sure that many forum members who traded in their IS or LC for an ES or RX when they had kids can agree. And when the product is as good as Lexus, staying with the same team seems like a no-brainer to us.
