Lexus RX 500h Black Line Special Edition Coming In 2025
In addition to the Black Line Special Edition, the RX 350 and RX 350h get a new F SPORT Design grade for the 2025 model year.
The best-selling Lexus model is going to be getting some changes for the 2025 model year. The most notable will be the arrival of the Black Line Special Edition. This new package is available only on the RX 500h F SPORT Performance model. Only 500 examples will be available in North America for the 2025 model year. That will make it as rare as the LFA. Although we would not expect this RX to ever be worth seven figures like the LFA is today.
The Black Line Special Edition is not the only news in the Lexus RX lineup. The 2025 RX sees the introduction of the F SPORT Design grade. This new grade will be available only on the RX 350 and RX 350h. That means that for the 2025 model year, the RX will be offered in seven different grades: Standard, Premium, Premium+, Luxury, F SPORT Handling, F SPORT Performance and F SPORT Design. Remember the simpler days way back in 2008 when Lexus had the IS F and you knew that was the serious performance model? Now the letter ‘F’ is all over the place, and it is a little tough to keep track of what is what. It is getting as bad as BMW slapping an ‘M’ badge on everything that moves.
RX 500h Black Line Special Edition
So, what exactly is this new special edition RX? It starts out with an exclusive exterior paint color called Incognito, which was last seen on the IS 500 Launch Edition. There are black accents on the exterior and 21-inch split-five-spoke wheels with a black finish. Behind those wheels are orange brake calipers. It is the first time the RX has been offered with orange calipers. Step inside and you will find a black interior accented with gray stitching throughout. We think it all looks great but there are no performance or technology enhancements that go along with the package.
F SPORT Design
The word SPORT may be screaming in all caps, but the F SPORT Design grade doesn’t really make your RX any sportier. This is an appearance package. You get the F SPORT front fascia, grille, rear valence, and 21-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels with a gloss black metallic finish. You can select from six different exterior colors: Ultra White, Cloudburst Gray, Iridium, Caviar, Copper Crest and Grecian Water. On the inside, you will find Birch and Black interior options with Black Open Pore Wood trim.
Small Changes
The RX was just completely redesigned for the 2023 model year so outside of the aforementioned options the model is largely carried over from 2024. For 2025 a 12.3-inch multi-information display becomes standard across the lineup. The platform, engines, suspension and so on all remain the same. The 2025 RX models are expected to arrive at dealers later this year. Pricing for the new RX models will revealed as we get closer to the on-sale date.
