Lexus: Sparks of Tomorrow Debuts at the 2022 Milan Design Week
With its visionary exhibitions Lexus: Sparks of Tomorrow is grabbing a lot of attention at the 2022 Milan Design Week. The company is presenting Three design explorations at the event.
A couple of months ago, we reported that Lexus would present its vision for an electrified future with the help of three exhibits at the Milan Design Week. Earlier this week, the company unveiled its exhibit at the event, which is also celebrating its 60th anniversary. The Lexus: Sparks of Tomorrow showcases the luxury brand’s commitment to sustainability.
The company’s future-oriented, human-centered approach is the inspiration behind the three design explorations. Lighting studio Aqua Creations partnered with renowned American designer and architect Germane Barnes for the ON/ installation. The exhibition showcases a life-size model of the Lexus RZ. Aqua creations’ Code 130° silk collection illuminates the steel wire sculpture.
The display hovers above the ground for dramatic effect, and the colorful pendant lights infuse the exhibition with a heightened sense of materiality. Aqua Creations’ new ToTeM Lighting collection also graces a lounge area that offers a moment of reflection. Lexus’ global head of marketing, Brian Bolain, shared his thoughts on Lexus’ presence at the 2022 Milan design week.
The LEXUS DESIGN AWARD 2022 is another exciting event in the Lexus: Sparks of Tomorrow arsenal.
“We are excited to return to Milan Design Week with an incredible array of projects that highlight next-generation design and our commitment at Lexus to forging a path towards a carbon-neutral future through technology, craftsmanship, and innovation,” shares Bolain.
He further adds, “We are especially thrilled to be able to present the work of the LEXUS DESIGN AWARD 2022 finalists and Royal College of Arts students in the context of Germane Barnes’s ON/ installation, in its second iteration here with lighting design studio Aqua Creations.”
Students from London’s Royal College of Arts will use the event as a platform to showcase their futuristic prototypes. The company asked the six finalists to develop and also materialize concepts around the core principles of Lexus- anticipate, innovate, and captivate. The event is currently open to the public, and visitors can also check out the
2040: The Soul of Future Premium project by Intelligent Mobility Design Centre’s postgraduate students.
The transport concepts result from a six-month program where students were developing ideas that will incorporate Lexus into urban life. As a result, the company will be able to act as a communion between man, nature, and technology.
