Lexus: Sparks of Tomorrow

This year’s Milan Design Week, Lexus: Sparks of Tomorrow, will present an electrified vision via three exciting exhibits.

Milan Design Week is one of the leading contemporary design events in the world. Toyota’s luxury sub-brand Lexus recently announced that it would participate in the event this year. The Japanese luxury brand first participated in the event back in 2005. Lexus: Sparks of Tomorrow is the name of this year’s event. The exhibits draw inspiration from the automaker’s futuristic and human-centric design approach.

At the event, Lexus will present a triad of design explorations. In the past, Lexus’ partnership with leading talent like Rhizomatics, Neri Oxman, Phillippe Nigro, and Sou Fujimoto has been responsible for presenting designs that drew inspiration from the automaker’s vision and values. For 2022, however, Lexus is partnering with lighting design studio Aqua Creations. The automaker is also collaborating with famous architect and designer Germane Barnes for an exciting installation.

The automaker will also showcase creations from the six finalists of the Lexus Design Award 2022. Lastly, students of the Royal College of Art, London, will present their designs for a sustainable future at the event. The automaker also commissioned the postgraduate program where the students were asked to develop new luxury transport concepts.

Lexus: Sparks of Tomorrow

Lexus: Sparks of Tomorrow will be held between June 6 and 12. The event will be open to visitors between 11:00 AM and 9:00 PM.

In a recent press release, Lexus reveals that commitment to high-quality materiality and expert craftsmanship is central to the automaker’s ethos, which it wants to emulate via its collaboration with Aqua creations. The all-new Lexus RZ will be the central inspiration for the Aqua Creations’ installation, which will also celebrate the battery electric vehicle.

The 2023 Lexus RZ is the automaker’s first all-electric offering and signifies the company’s carbon-neutral future. At the installation, visitors will see life-size 3D sculptural reproduction of the Lexus RZ. Furthermore, the steel representation will be levitating above the floor and illuminated.

The global creative community admires and respects 2022 Milan Design Week as a platform. This year, it will provide a cross-media, high-profile introduction to the work and ideas of the Lexus Design Award finalists. Their work articulates the core principles of Lexus― Anticipate, Innovate and Captivate: while seamlessly enhancing the happiness of all.
