Lexus Super Bowl Commercial Features LC 500 (Video)
2017 Lexus Super Bowl Commercial Looks to Add ‘Cool Factor’ with Sia and ‘Lil’ Buck’
As much as we all love the Super Bowl for what happens on the field, it’s also a huge event for automakers. That’s because the world’s premier sporting event is also the world’s premier advertising event as well. And following a 3.6% decrease in sales in 2016, the latest Lexus Super Bowl commercial is out to change the perception that their cars are “boring.”
And what better way to do that than feature the new and exciting LC 500 coupe? The grand tourer proudly wears Lexus’ new design language, which is both beautiful and thoroughly modern. If you want to change the public’s perception of your entire lineup of vehicles, it’s a great place to start.
But of course, the cars can’t do it all on their own. Lexus enlisted jookin’ dancing sensation Charles “Lil’ Buck” Riley to show off both his moves and the dramatic lines of the LC 500. With music from award-winning singer/songwriter Sia in the background and a voice over from actress Minnie Driver, the spot couldn’t be much more modern.
And it better be, because the 30-second ad will cost Lexus over $5 million. The Super Bowl brings with it no shortage of eyeballs, but competition is fierce. Last year, a total of $89.4 million was spent on Super Bowl commercials, with 23% of that sum coming from automakers.
But if the new spot can change at least some folk’s minds about Lexus, it’ll be worth every penny. With exciting new products like the LC 500 and LS 500, the automaker is clearly headed in the right direction. Now Lexus just has to convince younger folks that it is indeed “cool.”
