Lexus to Debut New Concept in Paris

Don’t be mistaken. Lexus is still bringing the LF-LC coupe to Australia. That said, they are bringing a completely new concept to the Paris motorshow on September 27th. Since the GS, LS, ES, and IS are all pretty much covered… What’s left?

Our guess, along with the rest of the internet hive mind, is that it’s a new crossover. There’ve been spy shots of a small new SUV testing earlier this month. The fact that the RAV4 has also been caught testing with similar camouflage, lends this rumor credence.

Similarly to the IS, the RX has been running around without a redesign since 2009 Lexus has gone through a lot of changes since then, so a refresh would be in order. Still, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’d introduce a concept for it. In fact, Lexus specifically says that they’re building a concept car in the press release. The RX might be build on a unibody frame, but it’s definitely not a car.

That wording leaves what they’re working on up to the imagination. Lexus tends to stay away from purely artistic exercises though, so it’d be reasonable to expect the concept to fill some kind of missing niche in their brand.

Could it be a 4-door coupe? Mercedes, BMW, and Audi all have one. Lexus has said in the past that they’re not going to make any car cheaper than the Ct200h and their smallish sedan plans went out the window with the HS200h. It could be a concept for the new IS. Lexus has said they plan to make the new IS a revolutionary design. Also, we’ve seen it running around in camo recently.

FR-S chassied coupe? Maybe? Hopefully if I say it enough times it’ll come true. Read the press release below
