Detailer Resurrects Nastiest Lexus GS 300 Ever!!! (Can’t Stop Watching)
After sitting outside with a leaky sunroof for five years, this poor Lexus GS 300 is completely rejuvenated by a detailer.
It’s safe to say that most of us enthusiasts keep our cars immaculately clean, far more than those that view vehicles as nothing more than essential modes of transportation. But while we’ve seen some pretty nasty stuff in our time, nothing compares to this poor Lexus GS 300, which the owner left sitting outside for six years, uncovered, causing mold to take over the interior of the luxury sedan.
Unfortunately, a leak in the sunroof caused water to enter the cabin, which created the perfect environment for mold to grow. Roughly five months before he decided to get his Lexus GS 300 back on the road, the owner noticed this nasty mess, which isn’t just awful to look at – it’s also quite dangerous to breathe in. Thus, he took it to Brent Dicesare and RJ Wagner at WD Detailing, who proceeded to make it good as new, as we can see in this highly satisfying video from Insider.
“First, we put the ozone machine inside the car that basically pumps oxygen to the third degree into it, and it suffocates the bacteria and kills it,” Dicesare said. “Then we’ll pull the seats out after we do the ozone treatment so we can actually get to all the spots.” The crew then proceeds to vacuum out everything they can, which included mold, slime, and the absolutely disgusting water pooled up inside the vehicle.
Generally, carpet this gone is usually discarded and replaced, but in the GS, it’s stapled down to the point where it was apparently best to simply clean it. Since the carpet is white, this is even harder than it might sound and necessitated the use of a “tornado” attachment – which uses “compressed air that shoots out in a circle like a tornado,” as Dicesare explains.
A little diluted all-purpose cleaner, coupled with an air compressor and air hose helps get the solution deep inside the fibers of the carpet and blow out anything embedded in it. Next, extractor soap and a drill brush really scrub the carpet down before a hot water extractor pulls all the nastiness out of the fibers. As for the rest of the interior, it’s scrubbed down with a product called Tri-Clean to kill off any remaining bacteria.
WD Detailing also gives the exterior of this GS a good scrubbing, leaving it looking good as new. The whole process is quite satisfying to watch, but as Dicesare points out, it’s best to give your car some regular cleanings so things never get this bad.
