Lexus Fielding RC F Based GT Racecar to Compete in 2017
As they say, “Win on Sunday, sell on Monday,” so this next bit of news should be interesting to all Lexus fans, even those of us who aren’t necessarily race fans.
Beginning in 2016, Lexus will be fielding a U.S. motorsports team driving a new GT racecar based upon the RC F.
According to the Lexus press release:
Paul Gentilozzi and newly formed F Performance Racing to field the RC F GT3 in a soon to be announced sports car series. This new racing venture is part of the Lexus’ global motorsports effort that will see the Japanese luxury brand competing on tracks in the United States beginning in 2016. The new race vehicle is based upon the production Lexus RC F high performance coupe that went on sale at the end of 2014.
The new rocket ship will be piloted by road racing “legend,” five-time 24 Hours of Daytona winner Scott Pruett. Besides being a stud pro driver, Pruett has also been instrumental in developing the RC F and IS F. He’ll work directly with Gentilozzi, another racing legend in his own right, and the F Performance Racing team to field a multi-car effort in the 2017/2018 season.
