All-New LS Takes Craftsmanship to a Whole New Level (Video)

Epic music and incredible cinematography make a video about glass and leather rival anything in Hollywood. (No offense to James Cameron.)

Forget Avatar, Fast & Furious and the new Star Wars film. If you want to see some real edge-of-your-seat entertainment, Lexus has you covered. In a recent video posted by Lexus UK, viewers get the opportunity to see just how much craftsmanship went into creating just a portion of the all-new Lexus LS’ interior. This may sound insane, but you’ll watch this video and be amazed at just how cut glass and leather work can be so riveting!

There’s no flashy shots of a car in this video. No, this is all about the interior. And not the whole interior, either. The two-minute video focuses on the specific cut glass and leather that is found on the door of the LS. Sure, it sounds very dry, but with the orchestral music and intense lighting, you’d swear this is some Hollywood blockbuster.

First off, you see how the cut glass is created. Starting with a delicate piece of glass, the master craftsmen take that glass and hand cut the design that you see in the car door.

Next, you see just how much time and effort goes into the hand-pleating that is seen in the leather that surrounds this glass. As the video says, the hand pleating “transforms a piece of cloth into a fusion of light and shadow.” Yes, that sounds a bit pretentious, but after you watch the hard work that goes into the interior, it’s completely justified.

2018 marks the launch of the fifth-generation LS. With videos like this, there’s no doubt that Lexus has another incredible luxury vehicle on their hands. If they put this much time and effort into the interior of their vehicle doors, imagine how the rest of the LS feels.
