One-off Lexus LC 500 Convertible Brings in Millions for Charity
The $2 million from auctioned Lexus to be donated to Boys & Girls Club of America and Bob Woodruff Foundation.
The stunning new 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible doesn’t arrive in showrooms until this summer but it’s already making waves in the car enthusiast community. A couple of weeks ago we wrote about a very special Lexus LC 500 that was going up for auction at Barrett Jackson’s annual January event held in Scottsdale, AZ with the proceeds going to charity. The one-of-one LC 500 in question rolled onto the auction block on Friday, January 17. During three minutes of quick bidding the Lexus ended up fetching $2 million. The proceeds of the sale are being donated to charity with half of the money going to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the other half going to the Bob Woodruff Foundation. The high sale price was an exciting outcome for such a great cause. “We’re so excited this unique LC 500 Convertible generated 2 million dollars that will be split between the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Bob Woodruff Foundation,” said David Christ, Group Vice President and General Manager of Lexus. “We’re grateful for having such a great partner in Barrett-Jackson, and I’m proud of our Lexus team and what we were able to accomplish together, but none of it would be possible without such an impressive winning bid!”
On top of donating to a worthy cause the winning bidder of the auction gets a pretty special Lexus as well, starting with a serial number that reads 100001. Under the hood is a normally aspirated V8 that pumps out 471 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. Though the engine is a standard production component the rest of the LC boasts many one-off touches. The Inspiration Series from Lexus inspired the Structural Blue paint that is complimented with a white leather interior. The brake calipers are finished in the same shade of blue as the body. The Lexus rides on a set of Liquid Graphite-painted alloys with gloss black accents. Elsewhere are carbon fiber door sill trim plates and a set of luggage from Zero Halliburton. And that’s just a few of the changes.
