One-Owner LFA No. 253 an Exotic Collector’s Dream
Delivered to Dallas, LFA No. 253 one of 27 non-Nürburgring Edition models in Whitest White, features orange and black interior.
What else is there to say about the LFA? It’s rare. It’s stunning. And it’s a car Lexus has yet to top since the last one left the line nearly a decade ago. Not to mention the hype whenever one goes up on the auction block is almost always off the charts.
So, imagine how hot things will be when this one-owner beauty hits the block. Heading to RM Sotheby’s intimate extravaganza in Phoenix in late January 2022, LFA No. 253 will be celebrating its 10th birthday with a possible new home.
One of 178 LFAs delivered to the United States, No. 253 landed at Sewell Lexus in Dallas, where its current – and only – owner picked it up. It’s also dressed in Whitest White, one of 27 non-Nürburgring Edition models to be painted as such.
During its decade of life, the LFA’s 4.8-liter 1LR-GUR V10 covered 4,360 miles. Or, rather, two V10s did the duty. After a third of those miles were logged, the owner brought in the Lexus for a check-up over some unusual, intermittent noises from the otherwise sonorous V10. Turned out a manufacturing defect was to blame, resulting in the original V10 coming out, and a new 1LR-GUR taking its place. Thirty miles of testing later, and all was well with the world for the owner.
And why not when this is the interior they would get to be in. The orange and black leather with black carpeting and carbon fiber trim is simply a wonderful place to escape the day. The AM/FM/CD stereo is there to contribute a soundtrack for the drive, though we suspect it hasn’t seen much action; Yamaha’s music department did tune the V10 for concertos, after all.
All in all, LFA No. 253 lives up to the hype to this day. Whoever gets a chance to bring this home next already knows they’ll be the king of the streets. And it might go for a pretty penny, too. The previous three LFAs up on the RM Sotheby’s block went for $587,000, $819,000, and $1.6 million. Who knows where this one will fall on the scale.
