Pros and Cons of Lexus F Performance as a Daily Driver (Fridays are for F Presented by Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus)

2020 Lexus RC F

The Lexus F Performance models are a rousing union of precision and track-bred power; but do the hi-po cars translate to day-to-day driving?

One problem with owning a dream car is that many don’t work as a daily driver. The Lexus F Performance cars are already at an advantage in this arena. Lexus has a well earned reputation for vehicles that are exceptionally reliable and long-lasting. And the Lexus F Performance and F-Sport are no exception. Lexus F vehicles do make a very good, very capable daily driver.

However, if you plan on using your Lexus F on the daily commute, or as your main ride day-today; there are some issues that might need to be addressed. This week’s Fridays Are For F focuses on Lexus F cars that work as a daily driver–as well as pride and joy.

Now, obviously not all cars are meant for the challenges and wear-and-rear that comes with daily driving. Would we commute in an LFA? Well, we’d be tempted. But, no. Given the investment put into a Lexus F Performance, many drivers prefer to garage it for weekend drives, track days, and optimal weather.

While many others buy theirs specifically to make the ride all the more fun.

“I drive my RC F daily. I cant walk past it and get into a boring car,” says Mirza.

Ditto for 2Squared who also chooses to daily drive his beautiful RC F.

“Bought the RC F because I can drive it every day,” says Bob67 of his ’17 RC F. “Always thought I should never buy a car that I would be afraid to get it dirty!

2016 GS F

AlboJoe loves his 2016 GS F on the road. With standout handling, power, and quality; it is exactly why the F mark is so appealing.

However there are some disadvantages.

“Kick down sucks when cruising on highway,” he adds.

Another helpful piece of advice to keep in mind is how this effects the car.

“When I had my RC350 F I used it as my daily driver. Commute is 30 miles both ways, 5 days a week. One caution, gas can get pricey if there is lots of stop and go traffic and a heavy foot. But that’s to be expected. When traffic is moderate, and [you’re] taking it easy on the pedal she’s a great DD,” adds RC3FiftySD.

“Picked her up a few months back and still love driving it everyday,” DonatoJB adds of his GS F.

Calvhino’s 2014 IS350 F-Sport shows it is an all-weather beauty. Lowered one-inch on RSR springs. chrome delete, with new rims coming next summer.

Calvhino IS F

He likes nearly everything, calling it the best car he’s owned.

So can you daily drive a Lexus F? Absolutely. This is a car your buy to enjoy, to really get the most out of. When it comes to challenges like bad weather or iffy terrain, a backup is a good idea. Be prepared and prep your ride for any weather.

But if you want to slide into the sleek, luxe ride that is ready to kick it, the Lexus F still retains the durability to go into beautiful beast mode.

Do you currently or would you daily drive your Lexus F?
