RX 350 F Sport Blackline Edition “the Perfect Luxury SUV for Americans”
Limited to only 1,000 copies, RX 350 F Sport Blackline Edition faces stiff competition prior to the next-gen RX family’s arrival in 2023.
Come 2023, the next-gen Lexus RX will finally arrive. When it does, it’ll come at a time when hybrids and full electrification begin domination of the auto industry as a whole. While Lexus takes its time to make the next RX a banger for luxury crossovers everywhere, the current RX continues the fight against ever-stiff competition.
For 2021, this comes in the form of the limited-edition RX 350 F Sport Blackline Edition. Sofyan Bey of Redline Reviews recently reviewed an example to determine how well it stacks up against its rivals. In a word, it’s solid as a rock.
“Over the last 20-plus years, the Lexus RX has developed a reputation for itself for being plush, for being comfortable, and above all, being luxurious,” said Bey. “Those strengths have led Lexus to become the best-selling luxury vehicle here in the States, especially the RX […] Those same strengths of the RX have allowed it to become synonymous with it being ‘a mom car.'”
Thus, the RX 350 F Sport Blackline Edition. Just 1,000 will built, split between 750 traditional and 250 hybrid units. The Grecian Water blue exterior with black trim lend a sportier appearance to the RX 350 overall. Yet, as Bey says, it’s still a plush, luxurious ride; no pulls off the stoplight to soccer practice here.
“I want to remind you that this generation came out back in 2016,” said Bey. “It is the fourth generation of the Lexus RX. Back then, when I first saw this car, I wasn’t particularly in love with the styling […] I personally think Lexus needs to soften things up a little bit, but also make it a lot more modern for the next generation version.”
For now, though, the RX 350 F Sport Blackline Edition amps up the sharp lines of the current RX, especially with the piano black trim applied to the grille. The black wheels also pump the aggression up, and the overall package adds “a youthful flair” to the otherwise sedate crossover. And while the current V6 is good to go, Bey hopes Lexus will drop the twin-turbo V6 from the LS into the next-gen RX to truly wake everyone up.
“What Lexus has done here is they continue to build the perfect luxury SUV for many Americans,” said Bey. “It’s essentially the perfect caring vehicle. There’s a lot of people that like this car. I understand why it is so appealing.”
