Street Racing Delivers Lexus Through FedEx Store
Two injured in street racing crash between Porsche and Lexus, the latter stolen from a friend of its owner.
There are so many legal ways to unleash the beast in your Lexus, including drag strips and track days. Yet, some people still want to be fast and furious in their rides, racing one on one against all comers on the streets. While it might look cool, there’s too much at stake (your car, your life, the lives of everyone else, the police) to commit to something ultimately foolish.
Such is the case here. Los Angeles CBS affiliate KCBS-TV reports two were injured when a Lexus crashed into a Studio City FedEx Office. One that, as it turned out, was stolen.
The thief took the Lexus out for a street race against a Porsche when he lost control and plowed through the front windows of the FedEx, which had customers at the time of impact. The driver stumbled out of the car, while his friends in the Porsche swooped in to grab him and a few bottles of alcohol from the scene.
One witness, Bill Farroux, heard the accident occur “from way down the street… watching to see what was going to happen.” Farroux says he saw the Lexus fly through the intersection “almost like on its side, just out of control,” before it landed deep into the FedEx. A customer using one of the computer stations at the front was hit by the car, and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Lexus itself had to be removed with heavy tools from the FedEx by the Los Angeles Fire Department, per KCBS. The station tracked down its owner, Caesar Balbuena, who told them he had lent out the car to his friend, who was not the one who crashed his car into the store. He also didn’t know anyone in the cell video related to the driver.
As you can see, no Lexus should be treated like this, especially if it had killed anyone involved in this reckless joyride.
