It Takes a 100-Foot Tree to Finally Stop a First-Gen Lexus RX
If your ever-reliable Lexus is going to come to the end of the line, you may as well get a good story out of it.
Well, maybe “good” isn’t the right word, but Lexus owner Dana Horton definitely has a unique tale to tell about that day her black 2003 RX300 got attacked by a giant tree.
Okay, maybe “attacked” isn’t the right word, but that’s sure what it looked like after Horton’s otherwise indomitable first-gen RX got squished by a 100-foot-tall Valley Oak tree in the Bay Area on Saturday, as highlighted in a Marin Independent Journal report.
Two other vehicles and some fencing and decor from neighboring homes were also damaged by the toppled tree, which fell around 7:30 am. The road remained closed all day to clear the scene.
“With the wind last night and this rainy season, it must have been its time,” said Fairfax Police Sgt. Rico Tabaranza about the tree, which indeed showed signs of rot.
Fortunately, no one was hurt. And hopefully they trimmed enough weight from a neighboring tree, which also shows signs of decay, to prevent another incident.
Here’s hoping Horton will get herself another Lexus that lasts at least as long as this one. Goodbye fair RX, you sure were a trooper.
