According to CarAdvice–who spoke to Lexus’s Australian Chief at the RC coupe launch–the rumor that Lexus was considering an entry into V8 Supercars seems to be true.
That means we might get a race tuned version of the brilliant V8 found in the coupe, which will sound epic.
Lexus’s Sean Hanley, said that they had approached the race organizers to talk about an upcoming entry into the series. However, there’s a problem, according to the rules right now, Lexus could not take its RC F Super GT car to the race since it’s a coupe and currently runs the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder layout mandated by the series governing body.

However, recent changes within V8 Supercars has made it possible that the governing body could allow the RC F to potentially enter.
The most likely scenario would be that the RC F racecar would stay a coupe, but the engine would most likely be changed to a race version of the V8 found in the road car.
The race organizers want more automakers to enter the race series, and are rumored to have been considering relaxing the rules a bit. However, it’s unlikely to change the engine requirements anytime soon.
