Top 10 Most-Read ClubLexus Stories in 2020
From old faves to new tales, you’ve made these 10 ClubLexus stories the biggest stories on your reading list in 2020!
It’s a December to remember once again! Not just at your local Lexus dealer, of course, but here at Club Lexus, too. We’ve got a lot to remember ourselves. Though the pandemic knocked out a lot of everything in 2020, there was still quite a bit to celebrate. From the introduction of the LC 500 Convertible, to AIM Vassar Sullivan snagging its first IMSA championship, nothing stopped the Lexus train from moving along.
The Year of Our Corona 2020 also gave you plenty of time to read every post ever published on Club Lexus. Of those, these 10 were your most favorite this year. Let’s read them again, shall we?
No. 10: “LS400 Not the Million-Mile Lexus, But Could Be One Day”
One of our more recent posts, likely because “Million-Mile Lexus” draws everyone to the yard. This one found on Bring a Trailer, though, has hardly begun such a journey, with just over 20,000 on the odometer. Yet, it’s always a beautiful day when a beautiful LS rolls your way.
No. 9: “LFA No. 425 Heading to Barrett-Jackson at No Reserve”
It’s rare to see an LFA at all. It’s rarer to see one hit the auction block. No. 425 did so in Scottsdale, Arizona at Barrett-Jackson’s fall extravaganza. The one-owner black beauty with 1,100 miles on the sonorous V10 did very well for itself, raking in $440,000 in the warm desert sun.
No. 8: “Own Paris Hilton’s LFA for Half a Million Dollars!”
One of the more famous LFA owners happened to be Paris Hilton. In fact, she owned two, including this Pearl White one, No. 108. Hilton logged some 4,000 miles on her LFA, and was up for sale nearly half a million dollars back in March. The allure of Hilton certainly helped pull in the views.
No. 7: “9 Celebrities Who Drive a Lexus”
Hilton’s not the only celeb to drive a Lexus of any sort. Over the years, we’ve looked at who else took up the “pursuit of perfection.” This throwback from 2016 includes Mila Kunis, John Legend, and Anthrax’s Scott Ian among the ranks.
No. 6: “Club Lexus Member Scores Perfect LFA with Help from Forums”
Sometimes, you need a little help from your friends. For one Club Lexus forum member, he received such help from the forum community. The results led to our member acquiring LFA No. 88 from Lexus of Naples in Naples, Florida back in January 2020.
No. 5: “Evolution Not Revolution: 2021 Lexus IS Revealed”
One of the most awaited reveals turned up in June, when Lexus unveiled the 2021 IS on Facebook Live. The all-new performance sedan looked familiar, yet offered new features like Android Auto, 18- and 19-inch wheels, and a new Circuit Red interior option.
No. 4: “CT200h Is the Most Reliable Used Car, Says What Car?“
Once upon a time, Lexus transformed the Prius into the CT200h. Though the last new one sold in the U.S. back in 2017, the hybrid luxury hatchback still has its fans in the used-car market. British publication What Car? found through a survey of U.K. car owners the CT was the most reliable car on the market, beating out Honda and Toyota, among others.
No. 3: “Lexus SC400 Manual Transmission Swap Thread”
The SC never came with a manual. Yet, in 2018, one Club Lexus forum member decided to bring the third-pedal mafia into the luxury performance coupe. Over 42 pages, the member transplanted a manual from a Nissan 350Z to great success. Judging by its place on our list, it looks like some of you want to row your own in your Lexus, too.
No. 2: “Production Lexus LF-LC Will Carry the SC Badge”
No, it didn’t. Yet, back in 2014 — two years after the LF-LC concepted debuted in Detroit — we (via Motor Authority) reported the LC 500 would be the third-gen SC. This never happened, of course, proving that product plans can thwart our predictions.
No. 1: “5 Worst Lexus Models of All Time”
Finally, this article hit the biggest notes with you in 2020. In fact, our top pick prompted an email or two about how wrong we were about. We still stand by our choices, though; the SC 430 may be quiet and run “like a sewing machine,” per one of those emails, but it’s still hideous.
