Top 5 Lexus Cars of the 2010s
The top five Lexus cars of the 2010s highlight the company’s new styling direction and performance focus.
The top five Lexus cars of the 2010s highlight the bold chances Lexus took in that decade. First, the company was determined to up its performance game. Next thing you know, Lexus had a raw high-performance car with a bomb of a 5.0-liter V8 engine. Then they shed the conservative, beige styling like a snakeskin for a front end that looks reptilian. Reactions were mixed, if not slightly negative, at first. But the styling grew on people. It’s bold, original, and doesn’t look like an exaggeration of itself.
One by one, all of Lexus’ models transformed from smooth and rounded styling to sharp edges and creases. By 2020 the company honed its performance into a sharp edge as well. It’s no surprise the top five Lexus cars of the 2010s are performance oriented. Including one car that became not only one of the few epically great performance cars of its era but an all-time legend.
5. Lexus IS 350
The Lexus IS has never been a BMW 3 Series, but the 2014 model is the first that doesn’t try to be one. It’s its own car. The exterior styling is unique and has held up well. The interior is first class with the look and precision of a Nikon F series camera. And the 306-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 is supremely good.
We really need to sing the praises of the 3.5-liter 2GR motor. It’s smooth, quiet, and vibrationless. However, it idles with a chip on its shoulder. Lotus used this engine for a reason, and I’m on record saying it’s the engine the Toyota Supra needed. It pairs perfectly with the IS.
