2022 Lexus IS 500 F-Sport Performance

If the Lexus RZ 450 is spearheading the future, the IS 500 F Sport Performance is making sure the past doesn’t go quietly. Lexus had no business going old school, dropping its fantastic 5.0-liter V8 in the current IS. But it did. The company could have gone with the twin-turbo V6 from the current LS. But it didn’t. The current IS 500 could be the last V8 Lexus, which makes it bittersweet. Some car magazines say the Lexus IS is off the mark. But those self-styled experts who pontificate in colored fish wrap are talking out of the wrong hole. There is no mark – it’s an imaginary ideal. But if any car company gets close, it’s the one that dared greatly, stuffing an epic V8 in a small sedan while pursuing perfection.
