Top 5 Lexus Engines of All Time
The top 5 Lexus engines of all time highlight the company’s emphasis on performance and engineering excellence.
One of the first things that come to mind when I think of Lexus is the performance and durability of its engines. Matt Farah’s Million Mile Lexus immediately comes to mind, but there are scores of other LS sedans roaming the earth with over 300,000 miles. The LS is not unique, just about every model seems more than capable of reaching the 200,000-mile mark.
More than anything, a long-lasting, durable engine determines the lifespan of a vehicle. It also determines its personality. The top 5 Lexus engines highlight this fact. Some engines make effortless power while others scream to their redlines. All of them highlight Lexus’ emphasis on performance and engineering excellence.
5) 2JZ I6
There will be people who wonder how I could possibly put the legendary 2JZ engine fifth on this list. It’s overbuilt and capable of producing monstrous power. Part of the reason why the Mk IV Supra is so popular is due to this engine. Without the 2JZ, “The Fast and the Furious” wouldn’t have had the Supra as the hero car. Even today, it’s an engine with a huge fanbase, and deservedly so.
But the 2JZ is a legend because it’s capable of making 2,000 horsepower, not because of the power it makes in stock form. At best, it cranks out 300 horsepower stock with turbos – good numbers but hardly great numbers. However, it’s still a great engine and does deserve a spot on this list.
