Top 5 Misses: 2021 Lexus IS

Tying into the complaints about the lack of any engine improvements, lots of you are also upset that Lexus is still using the old 6-speed automatic for the AWD versions of the car. This is especially relevant for Lexus fans in Canada and snowy US regions. Dcmr1888 summed up a lot of folks’ feelings with their comment.

I was hoping that the AWD model would finally come with the 8 speed transmission. I know a lot is said about the old 3.5l, but the 6 speed is outdated and needs to go. Due to the climate I have to stick to awd and the 6 speed is a dealbreaker for me.

It can certainly be frustrating to see so many competitors getting new advanced drivetrains, only to be stuck with older technology. It feels even more frustrating when that upgraded tech is already sold in IS, just not in the model you want.
