Top Hits From the ‘Lexus in Music’ Thread
So I was listening to some Jay-Z yesterday, like a boss, and I couldn’t help but notice how many times he referenced Lexus automobiles. Now, I don’t know if it’s cause Beyonce’s husband really likes Lexus cars, or if he really likes the rhyming opportunities the word “Lexus” affords, but honestly does it matter? If the Lexus shows up in a Jay-Z song, then the brand name becomes all the more desired by the general population. That’s just how our celebrity-centric economy works.
Of course, this got me thinking: Jay-Z can’t be the only musician to drop a Lexus reference. So I got to wondering, who are all the other Lexus songsters out there? So I got to Googling: “Lexus in rap.”
Now, the first search result shows that, according to a 2013 post from the always reputable Hyphy Hip-Hop, the Lexus is the second most mentioned car brand in rap. So we got that going for us. But you’ll never guess what shows up second? Boom! Sure as Lexus rhymes with Rolexes, one of our very own threads comes up, a rocker started by jet864, way back in 2004, titled, “Official Lexus mentioned in music thread.”
