So, as 2016 comes to a close, a large number of you are going to have some pretty strong feelings about how the year progressed as a whole. But rather than dwell on what was, or what could have been, let’s take a look at what some of the most popular Lexus news stories were over the entire year.
Stealing the Spotlight: Lexus LC 500
There is one thing that is is immediately obvious about this year: You guys love the new Lexus LC 500. Of our “Top Lexus Posts of 2016,” four are about the LC.
So with that in mind, we just decided to lump in a bunch of these together. We start back in January with a pair of pieces about the car’s debut at the Detroit Auto Show. Our original announcement piece and accompanying gallery drew tons of eyes from the adoring Club Lexus community.
Just over a week later we shared a piece about how the Lexus LC 500 is “kind of a big deal.” And it seems that was the truth. In fact, the LC 500 launch was a such a huge hit for Lexus that one of our most-clicked pieces of the year was a rumor from 2014 about the LC 500 actually wearing the SC name when it launched.
Our final big piece of LC 500 content was a video that we found of a lightly camouflaged LC out doing street testing in California.
Rumors & Raves: Lexus LS Sedan
That is not to say that the Lexus LC 500 is the only car you guys care about. With the impending launch of an all-new LS sedan coming in a few weeks, lots of you were eager to get every detail we could find. It just so happens that most of those pieces didn’t quite cross the line of views to pass up the new Lexus LC.
We did have one LS story make it to the top though, and that was the engine rumors and images from Japanese magazine Best Car. According to the article, the new Lexus LS will be sold in an F trim with a twin-turbo V8, and the base engine for the model will be a new turbocharged, 3.0L V6.
Beyond the exciting new rides from Lexus, you folks also love a good bit of comparison testing. And a touch of the bizarre. Carwow did a video comparing the new Lexus RX against the German stalwarts of the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE. You’ll have to watch the video to see who wins though.
Wild Life: Lexus RX Meets Destructive Bear
Our final top story for 2016 involves a bit of destruction and mayhem. A bear in Canada decided to tear through a Lexus RX in the search for some food (pictured right).
