Toyota Unveils bZ4X Concept, 2022 Lexus NX Coming Soon!
Redline Reviews offers a “hands-on” overview of Toyota’s upcoming electric crossover, which was recently showcased at the company headquarters in Plano, Texas.
Before diving into the Toyota news, let’s start with Lexus who announced that its all-new 2022 NX crossover will make its global debut on June 11. Toyota’s luxury sub-brand released a teaser image of the upcoming crossover, which was accompanied by a statement in which the company proclaimed, “The future of Lexus is just on the horizon.” Now, Toyota is making a statement of its own. The Japanese automaker showcased its 2023 bZ4X concept at the company headquarters in Plano, Texas.
The bZ4X will offer the foundation for Toyota’s new electric-only production SUV, which will be launched in the U.S. some in the middle of next year. YouTube channel Redline Reviews recently had an up-close-and-personal encounter with the bZ4X and offered a “hands-on” overview of Toyota’s upcoming electric crossover.
“bZ stands for ‘Beyond Zero’, It’s a new electric sub-brand that Toyota is basically patenting as we speak because this is going to represent a new family of full battery-electric vehicles. Toyota is committed to being carbon neutral by 2030, and this is going to be the start of it,” said Sofyan Bey, Editor in Chief for Redline Reviews.
The 2023 bZ4X concept will be based on Toyota’s e-TNGA platform, which will also underpin Subaru’s first-ever electric-only crossover- the 2023 Solterra. Subaru Solterra is also scheduled for a 2022 debut, and the company released teaser images of the upcoming crossover earlier last month. The design of the Toyota bZ4X concept bears a striking resemblance to the overall styling and silhouette of Subaru’s offering.
“The front-end is all of course is very smooth very sculpted. You have these LED headlights, which kind of remind me of the headlights you might find on a Supra with these individual LED diodes. You have some vents here, which I’m not entirely sure if they are entirely functional, and you have this very interesting distinctive LED daytime running light which should also be a LED turn signal,” said Bey. He further added, “You have these full-length LED taillights with this interesting design, which is kind of a little bit Lexus-like.”
The Toyota bZ4X concept rides on 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, a giant touch screen dominates the dashboard and acts as an infotainment display. A second screen is employed as the instrumentation display. The company has confirmed that its upcoming battery-powered crossover will get DC fast charging capabilities and will get all-wheel-drive as standard.
