Track-Focused Lexus RC F GT: Exclusive First Look!

Lexus RC G GT Render Concept

Lexus is going to build a hotter, faster, and better-handling RC F GT. The question is, will we get to buy it here in America?

If you’re a Lexus fan (obviously), there are certainly a lot of things to be excited about at the moment. First came the official first sighting of the LC F, a hotly anticipated ride. But it doesn’t look like Lexus is done building fast(er) rides with that hopped up halo car, either. Right after the LC F was spotted testing, an RC F GT was also caught out in the wild wearing heavy camo. But instead of forcing you to decipher the looks of this track-focused coupe, we had our resident artist draw up a render for us to drool over.

And trust us when we say that this is a car worth drooling over. According to Car & Driver, the RC F GT is a more track-focused version of the RC F and is expected to debut in the next year or two. It’s also the road-going variant of the RC F GT3 racer we already know and love. But unlike the concept car of the same name, this one won’t come with a rear seat delete, stripped-down interior, or full roll cage. Instead, it’ll retain all the luxury you’ve come to expect from a proper Lexus.

But don’t think that the RC F GT will simply be another styling exercise or special edition with no modifications. It’s rumored to use the 10th anniversary Japanese RC F‘s carbon-fiber body panels, for starters. It’ll also sport a massive carbon rear wing, bigger brakes, lighter wheels, and super sticky tires. And aside from that wing, you’ll be able to tell the RC F GT apart from its milder brethren by its revised headlights, taillights, mirrors, and front and rear fascias.

Power will still come from the much-beloved 5.0-liter V8. But it’ll have some revisions to crank horsepower up from the RC F’s standard 467. An 8-speed automatic will be your only transmission choice. The only bad news? The concept that was spotted was right-hand drive, meaning that it could possibly be another Japanese exclusive. But with any luck, we’ll see it here on our shores before the end of the decade!
