Ultra-Low Mileage LFA No. 184 Climbing Past $700K at the Auction!
Dropped off on Bring a Trailer, LFA No. 184 in Pearl Yellow going for twice its original sticker with less than one day to go!
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: the Lexus LFA is a rare ride in every way possible. Only 500 were built between 2010 and 2012. Of those, just 178 landed in the United States. And nearly all of them were driven for a few miles or so before heading into their climate-controlled homes. Some pop out now and again, others remain hidden from the public. Thus, it’s rare to see any LFA on the road, if at all.
And, of course, it’s rarer still to see one on the auction block. Meet the latest to cross it, LFA No. 184. This Pearl Yellow rose from Illinois arrived on Bring a Trailer on June 20 (how we missed this, we don’t know). Now, with less than two days left, it’s approaching the highest bid ever placed on any LFA.
The story of LFA No. 184 starts and ends in Arlington Lexus of Palatine, Illinois. Purchased new by the owner of the dealership in 2012, it spent the last nine years on display. In that whole time, just 72 miles were put on the V10. And since it more or less lived at the Lexus dealership, it’s likely been serviced to keep things in top condition.
Speaking of service, the LFA received an oil change for its V10 in late 2020. In fact, the whole thing is still under warranty. Also: a sizeable chunk of the 72 miles put on the Yamaha-tuned mill arrived before delivery. Lexus chose No. 184 for factory quality confirmation, logging 27 miles before shipment to Illinois. We think the remainder might’ve been trips to those coffee and cars happenings.
Inside, black and cream leather with carbon fiber accents are wonderfully preserved, as are the CD/DVD changer, satnav, and the Mark Levinson speaker system. Again, parking a car like the LFA in your own Lexus dealership likely helps as far as servicing goes.
With less than one day left in the auction, the highest bid on LFA No. 184 is $710,000. This is just $60,000 below the 2012 Nürburgring Edition that lived in a Lexus dealership in Massachusetts. Can this LFA take the second spot, or even approach the $918,500 paid for a black LFA Nürburgring Edition at Barrett-Jackson two years ago? We shall soon see.
