2017 Lexus RC F

Key tips help first time Lexus buyers navigate the used car market.

A good way to gain entry to the world of performance cars is to buy used. The used car market is desirable for its lower prices and variety of options. But it can also be anxiety-inducing, given some of the horror stories we’ve all heard or experienced. First-time buyers considering a Lexus RC F have additional needs and wants to address specific to a luxury performance car. Before you buy, check out these tips to help guide the way.

The Right Car

Since it came on the market in 2015, the Lexus RC F has gained an outstanding reputation as dependable and potent. With its stellar capability, track-inspired specs, and a snarling 5.0-liter V8; the Lexus RC F is a serious performance machine. So first and foremost, a buyer should be fully prepared for all that that entails.

2015 Lexus RC F

Lexus made a thrilling ride in the RC F. The naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 is heavenly, and it delivers 467 horsepower and 389 lb-ft of peak torque. Drivers should be comfortable with that level of potency and driving dynamic. Offering appealing versatility over sports cars, the RC F can work as a comfortable daily driver. Also, a major consideration is the additional financial commitment of insurance, maintenance, gas, and upkeep.

This is also a good time to define want versus need. Do you want all the bells and whistles? Absolutely. But do you need a fully-loaded RC F? Not necessarily. Sellers can get mark-up crazy when a Performance Package is involved. Heated seats and black carbon fiber styling is slick, but it will cost you.

The Right Deal

Still onboard with Lexus RC F? Okay. So how to find a good deal? Research, research, research. Many online resources can help check pricing including Kelley Blue Book, NADA and Edmunds. Also check in with car enthusiast communities and forums seek out advice from fellow Lexus drivers.

Lexus Website

One resource we highly recommend is the Lexus Drivers website. You can search by VIN to get the vehicle’s information and history. There are no shortage of services that allow potential buyers to search by VIN, but Lexus’ site is one you should check out for its treasure trove of information.

The Right Time

The good news and the bad is this: high-performance vehicles depreciate greatly. One benefit from this is the used marketplace offers more competitive pricing than buying new.

2015 Lexus RC F

Unfortunately, right now is an especially rough time for used car sales. Prices have soared higher than usual, and potential buyers should anticipate that and paying higher than average. That being said, RC F deals can still be found. Searching for a stock Lexus RC F with reasonably low-mileage; we found a good handful of base options 2015, 2016, and 2017 for around or under $45,000.

It is a lot, but breathe deep–much like the RC F’s guttural V8. As far as the Lexus RC F it is hard to go wrong, it is a great hi-po car and can be one juicy bargain. With enough research and the right tools at the ready, searching for a dream ride can and should be a satisfying and panic-free experience.
