Well-Preserved Two-Owner LS400 Never Left the Nineties

1992 Lexus LS400

Originally held by its first owner until 2020, 1992 LS400 spent its whole life in climate-controlled luxury, logged only 27,700 miles.

Though one first-gen LS400 is known for logging a million miles in its life, most don’t have that on the odometer (yet). That said, most LS400s (including the Million-Mile Lexus) are on the road chugging along today. Some look good for their age, others a little beat. It’s all about the maintenance and Lexus reliability that keeps ’em rolling down the highway, though.

However, some owners have gone to great lengths to preserve their LS400 models. We recently happened upon such an example on Craigslist (since deleted; click here to view a copy of the original ad). This one may still live in 1992 to this very day.

This LS400 stayed with its original owner until 2020, when its second owner acquired the Lexus. For all that time, it lived in climate-controlled luxury. In the past year or so, the flagship received fresh fluids, a transmission flush, and new brakes and tires. This ride is stacked and packed with nearly every option available back in 1992, including the Lexus gold badging package.

Under the hood, the LS400’s 4.0-liter 1UZ-FE V8 is as youthful as the rest of the car, having logged just 27,700 miles in its entire life. Just look at how clean this motor is! It’s certainly a rare sight to see this V8 looking this good. Compared to most V8s, this one may as well have never been driven any further than from the showroom to the garage.

Even the interior of this LS400 is preserved in amber! We bet you’d have no problem playing your Nirvana, Stereolab and Mary J. Blige cassettes in the AM/FM/cassette sound system, either. And that blue leather! Little Pine Trees might have a New Car scent for most rides, but this Lexus likely doesn’t need it.

At one extreme, there’s the Million-Mile Lexus, an LS400 pushed to its absolute limit. At the other end is this LS400. Meticulously cared-for, rarely driven, preserved like few others. May whomever comes into this Lexus next be as focused in preserving its history as the previous owners.
