Aussie ‘Fighting Schoolteacher’ Jeff Horn trades in used Toyota Camry.

Australian boxer Jeff “The Hornet” Horn‘s career keeps getting bigger and, along with it, his car is getting better. After his recent win against boxing legend Manny Pacquiao last month, Horn has joined forces with Sci-Fleet Motors, which will provide the reigning World Boxing Organization welterweight world champion with a fleet of Lexus, Toyota, and Mazda vehicles to choose from.

Up until his career-changing bout against Pacquiao, 29-year-old Horn drove a 2004 Toyota Camry. After test driving a Lexus RC Coupe and Mazda 6, the “Fighting Schoolteacher’’ fell in love with a sporty new Lexus LC500. “It is a lot smoother,’’ he told The Courier Mail when comparing the Lexus to his old Camry. “It is definitely a massive help and a massive improvement to where I was… [and] makes life a lot easier.”

Horn holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Australia’s Griffith University and formerly worked as a physical education teacher for Pallara State School in Brisbane. A victim of bullying as a child, Horn took up boxing as a way to defend himself. As an amateur, Horn represented Australia at the 2012 Olympics, reaching the quarter-finals of the light-welterweight bracket.

‘The Lexus LC500 is a lot smoother [than a] Camry. It is definitely a massive improvement to where I was… [and] makes life a lot easier.’

“Life has changed a lot in the past few months,” says Horn. “I’ve been a boxer for a long time but I hadn’t beaten a world champion until recently so it’s nice to get the recognition.”

A few days after the match, Mayor Graham Quirk presented Horn with the keys to the city on behalf of Brisbane.

Seeming appreciative and down-to-earth, Horn is not shy about giving shout-outs where they are due. In a recent Facebook post, he said, “Thanks to Lexus of Brisbane Group for lending me this super-cool Lexus (RC200T); it is such a nice car to drive. Sci-Fleet is now looking after me, supplying a range of cars you may see me driving in.”
