For example, when I bought my 03 SC430 in October 2002 :
MSRP in Canada was C$89K, MSRP in USA was US$62K, the exchange rate then was 0.63. Thus Canadian price for the SC was equivalent to 0.63 x C$89K = US$56K, so it was a few thousand dollars cheaper for a comparable car in Canada.
Today, the MSRP for a SC430 is C$93K in Canada, US$66K in USA.
The price in US actually have increased a little more than in Canada compared to 4 years ago, but the exchange rate today is 0.887.
Thus the Canadian price for the SC is now equivalent to 0.887 x C$93K = US$82K

There are import tax differences but this is all about the exchange rates changing because the US$ has weakened against most major world currencies including the Canadian$ compared to a few years ago. They can't drammatically increase the U.S. price just because the US$ have weakened.

that's US$16K more than the same car in the U.S.

Wow, hopefully that means the resale value of your car is near what you paid for it or more!

Tax can sometimes be annoying in Canada. However I would never live anywhere else for numerous reasons I will not get into.
Looking forward to the release of the price of this though.

Too bad US$56K is not worth nearly as much to me as it was 4 years ago . . .
