I just test drove a 2000 GS400 with the Platinum Pkg and the Naki system with 40k miles (off lease vehicle). The dealer (used car dealer) did NOT want me to take the car to a LEXUS DEALERSHIP to get the car checked out!!!
He doesn't mind if I get the car checked out by a local mechanic within 3 miles of his shop (there are LOTS of auto-shops around). He says, he's not allowed to have the car further than 3 miles from his shop for insurance purposes.......can anyone confirm?
The LEXUS dealership is about a 20 minute drive. Additionally, another reason he didn't want me to go to the LEXUS dealer is because he says that LEXUS will tell me bad things about the car so that I would NOT buy it.
The car drove OK. Felt solid......but it "may" have the low/rough idle problem. But the RPM needle wasn't low.....it idled between the 2nd and 3rd marks while the car is at a complete stop with in DRIVE. BUT!!!! I felt a very very very slight vibration (that I don't think I felt when I test drove other GS4s).
Also, the car didn't feel like it had the Ummmph of the other GS4s I drove......but maybe that's a mental thing because I was alone when I test drove it (no dealer next to me), so I punched it more. I remember the feeling of the monster torque of other GS4s when I punched it.....but this one felt a little funny. This one had to downshift before it had the power. The other GS4s had torque everyone in the powerband.
Damn, I need another GS4 owner to come with me and test the car and compare it to his.
But the price of this car is great..........$25k firm.
What do you guys think?
