FS: 9006 HID Kit for GS Foglights
#16
Yea there are alot of companies that make ballast which look like the hella gen 3's but those knock'ofs are made in korea/malaysia. Aftermarket ballast have an very wide known tendency to fail prematurely with in a period of 1 year. Becuse a ballast might look better then oem ballast doesn't mean its better quality, it just looks better. And the 2700k bulbs ( I believe thats the right temp ) are made by phillips ( I dont know of those are ) and they burn a deep yellow color and would be perfect for foglights, or for people that want bright yellow foglights.
Oh and the sylvania comparision is not correct, even though the halogen bulbs burn at 4000+ k temperature doesn't mean they produce nearly as much light as hid bulbs. The output is measured in lumins, a halogen bulb like the sivania silver star probably puts out no more then 1000 lumins where as a 4300/4100k oem hid bulb puts out around 4k lm. I think this issue should be addressed in the lighting section in fact I will contact henry, because the sale of these hid kits with low quallity components is really unfair to the buyers considering they are more then likely to fail. I know most people who know about the workings of hid would never buy a kit because they are well informed so I dont know why CL members shouldn't have the same level of information about purchasing lighting equipment.

vicestan,
Your assessment is correct, I got ahead of myself and corrrected my statement.
And yes issues about lighting should be discussed in the "lighting" forum. Those who are considering HID kits should research the facts and stick with a reputable kit with name brand components.
