I'm not sure if there is a different wattage ballast but it makes sense that it would be.

this place I bought it from mentioned:

"What is the difference between 55w and 35w kits?
Our 55w HID kits are 40% brighter than the standard 35w kits.
The 55W system ballasts are about 1 cm longer than the 35W ballasts.
55w kits tend to wash out some of the color of the HID bulb due to the light output( for example, a 55w 8000k will look similar in color to a 35w 6000k kit).
Our 55w HID Kit is not recommended for smaller fog light housings because they tend to concentrate a large amount of heat in a small area."

I would assume, very likely, oem is 35 watt but I'm not 100 percent sure.

I'm gonna have to say hogwash to that! of what I know and numbers may be incorrect. is that wattage has nothing to do with color its the mixture of gas in the bulb, the gas takes 85,000volts to ignite and 12,000volts (or 8,5000 dont remember) to sustain the 'fire' inside. What I mean by that is the wattage is the same and its only the gas mixture that changes the color. Its just a chemical reaction that makes one 'brighter' or less bright. kinda like putting a blue film over lights or red film over it, its the same wattage, but its just a color that doesnt illuminate the same as the other. Please add a link to where you're reading this I have to see it

someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

So are you saying that I can put a 55watt HID bulb using the 35watt ballast? I'm not refering to the color which is 3000k. I'm switching from a 35 watt 3000k HID to a 55watt 3000k HID.

makes sense whats is being said, first thing I asked myself; With so much more intensity, does it degrade the lifetime of the gas/bulb... but then I saw lifetime warranty... Enough for me I'm gonna have to look into those ballasts cause I HATE the output of my projectors whats the use of great projectors with crap output.

do you or anyone know if you need a different bulb for for the 55's or if you can use any of them?

In your case, since you have a projector, just chose 55 watt, then choose the bulb your are currently using (possibly d2s or d2r or something else), and then the bulb color. My projector will be 55 watt too...when I get a chance to put them in.

My .02

If badass oem HID's (as well asnot so badass ones) are 35w, like LS460 or BMW M5 or AMG SL63 and they are $75K- $135k cars where money is of now object and R&D flows like its free, why would 55w be better?

If its better, IMO, the OEM's would use it on their top of the line. To my knowledge, they all use 35w.
