Default Can't get Homelink to work new garage door

I installed a new craftsman garage door opener with roaming codes and can not get 08 IS 250 homelink to open door. I read the owners manual it has a way to make the new style roaming code doors open. Any one else having this problem

Also, vehicle manual appears to be missing a step. Suggest you also go to the Homelink web site, step by step direction there that work.

Here is my 2 cents

In brief use the Lexus manual for programming the transmitter in the car and use the garage door manual for programming the car to the door.

What I did:

1) Open garage door with the door transmitter.
2) Drive a couple of blocks away (so the transmitter will not reach the door) and program a button on your mirror using the Lexus manual instructions
3) Then go back home and follow the door opener manual instructions (basically push the button on the back of the door opener then go to car and push the button on your mirror that you already programmed til the door opener light blinks)
4) Your done.

Good Luck

Hi Triplel,

I also had such kind of problem.

I just followed your instruction and it's working now.

Actually, I was searching for the solution and I found it here.
Thanks..

I've been fighting with my garage door opener "pairing" since I had my IS250 . Never thought this would be the solution. Gonna give this a shot tomorrow.

Definitely go to the Homelink website (www.homelink.com) and use their instructions. Lexus assumes a few steps. In fact if you enter your car and the type of garage opener, they give you the detailed instructions. It is a good idea to reset your Lexus Homelink before programming by holding the two outer buttons for about 20 sec until the light begins to flash. Also, I have found when "cloning" the opener remote, that you should hold it at least a foot away from the Lexus Homelink. Holding it too close overloaded the Lexus Homelink and it couldn't copy it.

It took me a few attempts, but I got it done on my 07 IS350 (per instructions in owners manual).

You must erase all the buttons. That button has been impropery programmed. To erase hold buttons 1 & 3 for 30secs or until the light changes.

Once you've done that you can reprogram all of them. (start with the roaming) so if it doesn't work you don't have to keep reprogramming others!
