Any way to change the setting on the headlights?
Hey guys, I was wondering if there was a way to change the headlight setting so it shuts off right away when you turn off the car instead of staying on for 30 seconds.
Do I have to go to the dealer for this? Thanks in advance.

I don't know the way to do it, but I do know its a Lexus Personalized Setting (LPS), which the dealer can complimentary change for you (the first time). There are 4 settings:
Delaying headlights to turn off
After turning off the ignition and all the doors are closed, if the headlights are ON or in the AUTO position, the lights can be programmed for the following:
1.Turn off immediately, when the vehicle is turned off and the driver door is opened.
2.Turn off in 30 seconds. (Standard)
3.Turn off in 60 seconds.
4.Turn off in 90 seconds.
Hope that helps

Call them and ask the price for customizing personalized settings, they shouldn't charge much since its a matter of 5 minites working with the service computer.
Read the manual and think of other settings (door lock-unlock etc) you might want to change so you can do it all at once

You need the dealer to do this as an LPS. While it's true ^^^^ that you can press the lock button 2x, you need to do it from the remote--defeating the purpose of the Smart Key.
If you never had your LPS set before, I would think you could sweet talk the dealer into doing this for you w/o charge. Even if they charge you, it will be at the straight labor cost, and I can't imagine changing that setting takes more than .1 or .2 hours to do--$10-$20.

Lexus is all about customer service, right? Tell them that you bought it used, and ask if you can take advantage of your 1 free LPS. If they say "no", ask the service mgr if the $20 they will make is worth alienating a customer.

you're right--I had a brain fart. But, at my first service, I needed them to snap my front lip into place when it came loose from getting caught on a parking bumper--they charged $20 for the time spent. Changing a single LPS shouldn't take the .5 hr "book rate".
