Anyone removed LS460 headunit yet?
Hello everyone,
Has anyone took apart their LS460 headunit and screen? I have been looking for instructions on how to take apart the side panels and headunit with the screen but didn't find anything.
I would appreciate it if someone could guide me through it.

It is a secret. No one one the Ls forum wants to tell anyone. If this had been a Gs forum you would have had 10 answers by now.
First take off the side panels. Just pull out at the storage compartment end.
Second pull up and out on the ash tray.
Third remove the two bolts holding the head unit.
These were a ***** for me to find and get out.
Where the side panels where hinged into he console by the ashtray you will see two small holes. the bolts are up above those holes at a slight angle. I had to enlarge the holes to get an extension in at the angle needed to get to the bolts. I think they are 10mm bolts.
Once you have got them out gently pry out the head unit.

UAE,
I am taking apart the headunit to install my mediaplayer to stream music through the navigation screen. It is the best option for me. I hate ipod the interface used to connect to the navi is blocked with the car is in motion, I hate ripping CD's all the time with at least 30% of my favorite songs are in at least 3 CD's. It is convenience and I love to take apart my car. You should see my previous car without the dashboard and seats :P....

I c , theres a device out there V2LC something like that, its plug N play and you connect that to the ipod. Sound Quality will be same as ipod depending on the Audio Bitrate , etc..

I know about it, the problem is you will need the device from prestige society to override the navigation lockout which will cost me alot. With the navtool, it is easier and much cooler because I can connect and Audio/Video selector in case I wanted to add more sources and extend the video playback to the rear screens

2- I think youre mixed up between the override and what i meant. What i meant is this:

3- Prestiegious device isnt that expensive for UAE ppl , its like 1000 DHS Tops.
4- Rear PlayBack is Video/Audi Enabled 24/7 whether you have the prestegious device or not.

Removing the head unit is easy, takes about 15 minutes. 6 screws and pop off's, that's it. Don't forget to disconnect the negative battery terminal before starting the removal process.

OK. I took the initiative of taking apart my headunit using these steps:
Took the side panels out, then took the center piece at the center console, unscrewed the gear ****, took the gear shift assembly out after removing the two screws on the left side, took the ashtray out and disconnected the cigarette lighter, then removed the two screws on the sides to remove the DVD changer and pulled it out without disconnected the harnesses with the gear shifted in neutral.
Then shifter the gear back into park after moving the DVD changer out of the way and turned the car off. I left the car turned off for about 10 Minutes (IMPORTANT). Then disconnected the negative terminal and went to remove the harnesses for the DVD changer, and then removed the two screws inside that hold the navigation unit and pulled it slightly out.
I connected NAVTOOL according to the diagram and and installed it just fine.
The problem was that the NAVTOOl did not work, I tried 4 different video sources but none of them work!!
I want to know if I did something wrong or something
If anyone installed NAVTOOl device I would love to hear from them.
