Default how to tell? (if I have HID lights)

is there a way to tell if you have HID headlights just from looking at the front of the car without the lights on? I bought a 2010 Lexus IS 250 and cant tell which i have... I know that sounds dumb but i know nothing about cars...

You can't tell just by looking. You can tell if you have xenon or not. You have to turn your lights on, if you bought the luxury package, you should have HID.

Look at the rear driver side suspension, if you see this AFS bracket, then you have HID's

If you are going to start opening the hood, then do this--it will be easier:

Turn the car on. To the left of the steering column, there is a button that looks like this <O>. Press the arrows to scroll thru the options. If you see "AFS ON/OFF" as an option, the car has HIDs.

Of course, if you bought it new, couldn't you just look @ the window sticker?

The above is, by far, the easiest way to tell if you have factory HIDs (other than the window sticker or recognizing the car has the lux or sport packages which always come with HIDs).

I never understand when people try to tell folks to look under the car, or try and "listen" for an HID noise, or judge the color of the lights...all much more complex solutions than the above.

You Know I had no idea How active those headlights were until I drove in some high mist/ fog last night and i could see the light beam turning with every little turn of the steering wheel. It was very cool!

you will need to buy a hid conversion kit andthat does include a ballast. )= i'm pretty sure the headlight size for non oem hids are H11.
GL with your HID conversion

Wrong. If he has afs, he has hid. He only needs the bulbs.

since there are contradicting posts above,

confirming you'll only need to buy bulbs and not a conversion kit

I am sure i have the HID model (lux package), now does anyone knows where to buy the Headlights that fits this model, i just purchased an '09 IS250 and the headlights are disgustingly yellow as well as fog lights. Every vendor online ive checked sells for the models with regular halogens lights, they all have disclaimers advising it does not fit my model.
Any advise as to where buy them will be greatly appreciated,

Thank you in advance guys.
