Exclamation Oil change GS430 '06

Hi all, so far I have done many searches and haven't found any info on a GS430 '06 oil change. What do I need to do oil change on my GS430? Could someone also verify the part numbers?

So far I found the filter part number is: 90915-YZZD3 (found on eBay and verified with Amazon)

What about the tool? It seems the canister is standard so no tool really needed, correct? Just tool to remove the 10mm bolt to drain the oil?

How about the oil grade? 5w30? Which I understand is replaceable with 0w30 for cold weather, correct? I can double but I don't remember seeing this info in my own manual.

How about the Steps to reset the oil change reminder? I see on the Nav there is a reminder setting but it seems the car doesn't follow that because mine is all clear and I still get the reminder/warning on my instrument board.

Thanks.

PS: I'm still a noob so sorry if this info already listed somewhere, and if I mistype/mis-label/mis-etc in my post. Thanks.

standard tools. It's a normal spin on filter, not the canister the V6 has. Uses the smaller standard band wrench. I did mine a few weeks ago.

That's the filter model I used and refilled w/ 5w30 synthetic.

need to remove the lower engine shield at the front below the engine to replace the filter. Maybe 10 bolts holding it in; pretty sure these bolts are 10mm. Oil filter is directly above that, looking from the bottom.

Oil pan drain is on passenger side and can be loosened/removed without jacking up the car. Oil pan drain is larger than 10mm, probably 13mm or 14mm

As far as resetting the oil reminder, my reminder/light was already on in the gauge cluster. I found a thread on here which listed a few different ways to possibly reset.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...e-message.html

post # 10 is how I reset mine.

my notes:
Reset oil maint reminder:
Ign on - upper displ = blank/oil maint msg; lower odometer, not trip
Turn off Ign
Without touch brake, hit start button once
Press and hold reset on ctrl panel, touch start while hold reset
Wait for conf message that oil maint reset
Reset info/maint items in nav screen
Easy oil change. 20 min in my garage tops.

The 90915-YZZD3 (screw-on type filter) is the correct filter for the 2006 GS430 and 5w30 oil is also correct. It is not like the GS300/GS350 filter which is housed in a canister, but I believe the location for the GS430 filter is in the same location as the GS300/GS350 filter. There is a procedure for changing oil on a GS350 which I think is applicable to the GS430, except for the filter removal from the canister (which the GS430 does not have). Go to this URL https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-pictures.html which is the procedure for changing the oil for a GS350. Follow steps 1 thru 5, step 7 (only the first picture in this step is applicable) also see NOTE for possible alternet procedureto get to the filter, steps 12 thru 16 (steps 6 and 8 thru 11 do not apply to the GS430 since ours is a simple screw-on filter.

NOTE: According to one CL member, there is a trap door in the plastic panels under the front end of the car. It is just inboard of the left front wheel. Lower the flap, and you will see the filter. I can not confirm this, but look for that trap door first before removing the panel shown in step 7.

Warning Oil Light Reset: make sure your trip settings are turned off (trip a and b) and make sure the car is NOT running. lower your control panel that has all your odometer setting and rear view mirror settings. there are two buttons, one is ODO TRIP and the other is ODO RESET.
Now hold down both ODO Trip and ODO RESET buttons, with car off, and then turn on your accessories by pressing start button twice, but do not have the brake depressed, you dont want to start the car. continue to hold the ODO Trip and ODO RESET buttons till the IC says Oil Maint Reset. should only take like 5 seconds.

Good luck

it's usually cheaper to order online/dealership website b/c some dealerships tend to sell stuff for more expensive at their service dept.

Online with shipping it would cost more than $3.39. But if my ***** dealer charge me $6 than online would be cheaper.

Oh well.. I'll order online than.. ebay is cheapest?

Drive a long screw driver all the way through it and turn with the screwdriver as a lever...
at least that's what I do with stubborn oil filters. 8-)

"Mobil 1 with SuperSyn combines anti-wear additives and high-performance fluids that are engineered to provide outstanding engine protection. The SuperSyn Anti-Wear System is at the core of this formula. Instead of breaking down under extreme stress at high-temperature, the SuperSyn Anti-Wear System excels in these conditions."

I think Mobile 1 Synthetic is fine by itself if you're changing your oil every 5k-7k.

In my experience with cars in the 300k mileage range, I don't see that the additives have made that much of a difference - what makes the difference is regular oil changes.

Also, pay attention to your dipstick around 5k miles after a change. See the color of the oil. The dirtier it looks, the quicker you should do your oil changes.

I've been using Mobil1 Full Syn Extended performance with great results. After 5k miles the oil still looks clear and clean.
