Ash good/bad for car?
As many of you know, So Cal's been hit with some insane fires. These fires has lead to ash/amber falling all over the place. DOes anyone know if the falling ash/amber will do anything to the cars paint?

Ash can supposedly be very alkaline and *may* damage car paint if left on too long, so the best advice is to wash it (hoseing off with water alone helps) or at least use a quick detailer on it each day until they get those fires under control. Good luck.

damn fires covered my car in ash!!!
Yep I live in SOCAL and if you havn't heard were up in flames.
Luckily I live in Carlsbad where nothing is threatened here
But ash has been covering my dads black GS 430 the last couple days.
I do not wana harm his paint in any way.
Any good tips for de-ashing a car!
Thanks a ton...
All is well to SOCAL residents who lost homes....
Thanks...Matt

Just keep rinsing...and don't leave it wet because new ash that falls on it will create a 'soup" mixture that may etch, so dry thoroughly after washing or rinsing. Hopefully you have a good layer of wax or sealant to buy a little time.
One other word of peripheral advice to anyone in proximity to the fires; check your car's air filter on a weekly basis. They will clog up pretty fast in severe situations like this. Make sure your windshiled washer reservior is full too, because you'll be using it.
Good luck, stay safe out there.

The ASH is comming!!!!!
I went and washed my car, and then undercover, clayed and waxed it. The ash isn't sticking to my car, it just blows off when I drive it now.
Smooth surface = no ash dammage
Good luck and my thoughts go out to all who were affected by the fires.
