Default Peeling Chrome

quick question, has anyone experienced peeling on their chrome rims? if so, what did you do to stop it? i have heard that you can stop chrome peeling by using clear nail polish to stop the peel...any other suggestions? thanks!

when i bought my car, the original owner had replaced the original rims with the 01-03 gs300/400 rims cause the originals were falling apart... i have them in my garage, and the crome is just falling off. once it starts, i dont think there is any real way to stop it. i think with not too much tho you can have them rechromed.
