Default Side mirror molding

I have a `98 GS300 and I live in Las Vegas. My car is in perfect condition except for the molding around both my side mirrors which looks sun faded and very old. Has anybody else delt with this and does anyone have a fix. I was just going to replace them but the $280 a piece just for the mirror made me have a quick change of heart.

Gary, what color is your car?

This one will be tougher than usual I think, but that info might help.

Gary:

Do you mean the black plastic molding surrounding the mirror or the side mirror housing?

The black plastic molding surrounding the mirror looks horrible also. I was cleaning the mirror and had wiped some of the molding off (plastic was brittle)! Next service I am going to ask the dealer about it. Car is still under warranty and will probably have them replace it.

I had my housing repainted by the dealer under warranty 4 months ago. I live in the tropics where harsh sunlight condition has cause the top part of the side mirror housing to fade (looks like oxidation). My car is never park under cover garage. Because of your age of your car ('98) you will probably have to pay for the repainting. Shouldn't cost too much. Make sure they remove the housing from the car before painting.

Default side mirror molding

My car is alpine silver and I am talking about the black molding on the inside not the housing...
