Snow Removal
I'm using a combination ice scaper/snow brush from Avis, you probably all have something similar. It has what seems to be plastic bristles. In the past snow storm I was careful just to remove snow on the glass portions of the vehicle and not on the paint. Am I paranoid or will these bristles scratch the paint?

It's likely it will scratch
I think you're wise to question whether or not it touches your paint. It's a good bet if car wash brushes can cause swirls, that the snow and ice scraper / brush combo is meant for glass and not paint, and will scratch it.
One way to test; get an old CD and run it over it a few times. It's another form of plastic just like the paint on your car (urethane paint is essentailly a plastic). That will let you know how safe it is.
Maybe we'll both be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks guitarman, very informative.
I tried the brush on an old CD. The initial stoke did not do much damage but the subsequent moments left very fine scratches that you probably wouldn't notice immediately. So my guess is with repeated use you would be left with these very fine scratches all over the vehicle.
