Default Doh!! Cigarette burn

Ahh..being the idiot i am, i put a small burn mark in the trim between the window and windshield this morning. Its pretty small, but is there any way to fix it? If not, how much would it be to just replace that piece of trim? Its the piece where the curtain air bags are.

It sounds like you put the burn spot in quite a weird area.

I would contact Steve Ganz (SUPRATRD) on this forum to see on price and if it's worth it to try and fix it or just replace it.

you shouldn't be smoking in your car anyway...that's the first most unforgivable sin!

I kno I kno I kno!!! I've gone a few months without smoking in the car...but just started again. Only in the morning though. I was getting out of the car and had too many things in my hand and accidently burned the trim.

Default Coincidence

When I purchased the car, it had two burns in the A-Pillar cover. I just had it replaced this weekend. The cover costs $130 and the install at lexus ran me $30. Now it's as good as new.

Any lexus dealership should be able to order another cover for you. I had to call around though. One dealership told me that they don;t sell the cover alone....and that I would have to replace the ENTIRE dash assembly at $1300...what a load of BULL!!!!!!!

Smoking in a Lex is frowned upon.

With that being said....is it the leather area that got damaged? If so....I would take it to a leather repair shop....maybe they got something to hide it vs. spending big bucks to replace.

If not....and its a plastic piece... I would try find a place that can match the color of the trim piece with touch up paint.

Let's be honest here....it may very well happen again if you do NOT stop smoking in the Lex.

Its not leather or plastic, its the cloth piece that runs up the side of the windshield...130...wow thats alot for a piece of trim.

OK...thanks for the clarification. I would take it to an auto headliner repair shop....they are bound to have that color fabric. And it should be cheaper than spending $130 from the dealer.

i have the burn in the same spot. yeah i was quoted 300 from the dealer for the part alone! i think best bet is to goto a junk yard and see if you can get a used one. in my situation the burn wasnt that bad so i just ran a wet tooth brush along it to try to smooth it out.

BTW i quit smoking and feeling great!

Well I think it's expensive because of the sensor.

See if you can get Steve at Carson's to order it for you at a cheaper price. Or you can just call a few dealerships. I found out that each dealership can charge whatever it wants on parts so I only called 3 dealerships. Would have tried other's but $130 wasn't a big deal to me for my baby.
