Default IS Headlamp Lenses PItted

Does anyone have a suggestion (that you yourself have tried successfully) as to how to polish the plastic headlamp covers? Mine are pitted after 48K miles.

Thanks

It would be a bad idea to machine polish them since you'll break the molecular bond of the lens. You will get hairline cracking. The only real fix is to get a new pair and xpel them asap.

What does that mean Ryan? Not sure about the IS lens but I've had my GS ones machine polished and they look great. I Xpel'ed them afterwards and have not had any problems. Maybe the Xpel is strengthening the lens if what you say is true. The bodyshop did not see any problems with doing it either.

I guess it depends on who does the polishing. But i've seen many cases where the lens has the spiderweb effect with the hairline cracks.

Meguiar's clear plastic detailer worked well, but A LOT of elbow grease was involved!
